Case Study: Braemount Care Home, Paisley

Braemount Care Home have also been using find toilet and bedroom door signs. BUPA measured the success of the signs is in two ways – firstly, by measuring incontinenece numbers before and after find toilet signs are put in place, in order to demonstrate that the signs make it easier for people with dementia to find the toilet and reduce incontinece within the unit; and secondly by taking opinions from staff and relatives about whether residents are able to find their rooms easier with find bedroom door signs in place. A summary of their findings follows.

Incontinenece statistics: one month following the fitting of the signs, two residents showed no change in incontinence levels, four residents were now able to find the toilet independently, and one resident was now able to find the toilets with less assistance needed, thanks to the signs.
