Braemount Care Home

Memory boxes are a great, interactive way to improve the Care Home environment but there are ways to get the maximum benefit from them.

Braemount Care Home

Here is an example of one of our clients who uses Memory Boxes to their full potential and is reaping the benefits.

Suzy Varghese is a unit manager at Braemount Care Home in Paisley. The pictures say it all really, but this is how Suzy thinks:

"We ask the families of residents to provide pictures or small objects such as wedding photo’s, old pictures of themselves and family members, badges, medals, things like that. The key thing is that they choose objects we know the residents consistently recognise.

Our residents enjoy looking at their Memory Boxes and they stimulate lots of reminiscence and conversation. They’re also a great way for us to learn something about our residents."

We are delighted with this positive change...

"Having had a policy of utilizing all manner of beautiful and colourful objects to individualise bedroom doors, we have found the Memory Boxes very complimentary to this

strategy, both in engaging friends and family in bringing in personal effects and also as a recognition aid."
